The Colnar family is an old family, and their love for the beautiful hills of Dolenjska, for the countryside and for the land in general has been passed down through the centuries from generation to generation. A tradition that continues to this day.
A quarter of a century ago, the Colnar farm was transformed from a cattle breeding and wine-growing farm into a wine-growing farm that welcomes tourists in the Trška gora wine cottage. Biodynamic methods are used in the cultivation of vines.
The excellence of our work is confirmed not only by carefully tended vineyards, but also by numerous awards, diplomas, large gold medals and the prestigious title of "King of Cviček", awarded three times in 2008, 2014 and 2022. In addition, our Cviček wine received a bronze medal at Decanter in 2019. We were also honoured with a gold medal for our 2018 vintage rosé wine.
We have not only maintained the quality that is our top priority over the years, but have continuously improved it.
Nature gives us wonderful gifts that help us to produce excellent wines. Therefore, we place special emphasis on practises that
have a positive impact on the environment. We are committed to preserving nature as it was handed down to us by our
ancestors so that we can proudly pass it on to future generations.
Rooted in our deep tradition and enriched by years of experience, we carry the knowledge and responsibility passed down from
previous generations while embracing our own commitment and sense of responsibility. We strive to constantly improve,
continuously grow and aim ever higher. By raising the bar ever higher, we aim to provide our loyal customers with an
increasingly exceptional experience over time.
We are dedicated to producing high quality wines and specialise in processing grapes into wine. We have implemented a
completely closed, oxygen-free system to maintain the highest quality grapes and must before fermentation. In recent years we
have upgraded our technology, taking the quality of our wines to an even higher level.
The earliest records of the Colnar family date back to 1408, and the reputation of viticulture flourished from the beginning,
when a vineyard and wine cellar were established on the property.
A special tradition began in 1747 with the birth of the first son of a new generation named Janez. Since then we have baptised
every first-born son with this name, a tradition that has survived to this day. The youngest and current Janez is the eighth in the series.
Until 1994, our main focus was mainly on agriculture. In that year, however, we expanded our additional agricultural activities by opening an additional farm and also became active in the field of tourism.

Leta 2014 smo se uradno preusmerili na vinarstvo in se razširili na 9 hektarjev vinogradov. Tako danes obdelujemo 50.000 trt na štirih različnih legah obsijanih s soncem.
Danes pridelujemo več vrst vina, na prvem mestu pa je konstantno zagotavljanje kakovosti. Kvaliteto, ki nam je primarna, skozi leta ne le vzdržujemo, pač pa tudi nadgrajujemo. Naša želja je, da se v kozarcu pravilno postreženega vina, ob primerni temperaturi le-tega, človek počuti sproščeno, da začuti naš trud in ga barva, vonj ter okus posamezne sorte prijetno presenetijo. Ob tem je naš cilj dosežen.

In 2001, Janez VII and his brother planted three and a half hectares of vines, and we also expanded the existing winery.
In 2014. we officially focused on wine growing and expanded our vineyard area to 9 hectares. Today, we cultivate 90,000 vines
on four different sites, which are blessed with sunlight.
Today, we produce different types of wine, always striving for first-class quality. The high value we place on quality has not only been maintained over the years, but also continuously improved. Our aim is for people to feel a sense of relaxation when enjoying a carefully poured and optimally tempered glass of wine, to truly appreciate our efforts and be pleasantly surprised by the enchanting colour, tantalising aroma and delicious taste of each variety. This is how we fulfil our goal.
We are pleased to present our wines and their production to our guests. In addition, we offer a tour of our newly built winery in Lešnica, completed in 2022. At the tasting, we offer various packages tailored to the preferences of our guests, including tastings of 3 to 6 wines with homemade delicacies. We strive for sustainability in our farming by recycling all by-products from wine production in the form of grape seed oil and flour. We welcome groups of all sizes and can organise lunches/dinners and tastings by prior arrangement. As part of the tasting, you will also have the opportunity to sample grape seed oil and baked goods made from grape seed flour.
